The latest trends — and which ones survive Indian cooking
Handleless shutters, deep drawers, tall units: what earns its place in a kitchen that cooks three meals a day, and what's showroom theatre.

Every showroom has a wall of trends — handleless fronts, floor-to-ceiling tall units, dark matte everything. Some of it earns its place in a kitchen that cooks three meals a day. Some of it is there to photograph well and quietly make your life harder.
Worth it
Deep drawers instead of shutters with shelves — you see everything, reach everything, and stop stacking vessels three deep. Tall units for the pantry, so bulk atta and oil aren't living on the counter. A chimney sized to your hob, not the brochure. These pay you back every single day.
Showroom theatre
Handleless push-to-open fronts look clean until oily fingers meet a matte shutter with nothing to grab. Ultra-matte dark finishes show every fingerprint and masala splash. Open shelving looks airy in a photo and collects grease in a real kitchen. None of it is wrong — it's just often chosen for the wrong room.
A trend is worth it when it makes cooking easier, not just the photo better.
Our rule is simple. If a feature earns its keep in a kitchen that actually cooks, we'll push you toward it. If it only earns its keep on Instagram, we'll say so.
